Ami Paris heart-intarsia, knit polo-collar sweater.
The original version was purchased for 4700 as the basis for development. It uses custom blended yarn made of 50% cashmere, 40% cotton, and 10% nylon. The nylon improves the fabric’s refined hand feel and helps the garment hold a more structured shape.
The sweater-making process is highly complex. Once the yarn is ready, it is first wound on a winding machine. Next, a special solution is used to wash the yarn and remove surface impurities. After the panels are knitted, workers use a linking machine to join the loops one by one. Once the garment is complete, it is washed to set its shape and improve its hand feel. Finally, the ironing temperature is controlled to set the garment before packing and shipment.
Unlike the linking method used for ordinary sweaters, this style uses a reverse-linking technique that demands considerable skill. Production on the machine is slow: it uses an imported 5-gauge STOLL machine. Each sweater takes up to 110 minutes, and only 10 finished pieces can be produced in a 22-hour day. A single large-size piece can weigh up to 1000G. Careful work takes time.
The heart motif uses intarsia. Repeated pattern development and adjustments achieve the original look, requiring considerable skill from the artisan and precision from the knitting machine.
To match the original button material and size, the original was disassembled and analyzed. Custom molds were made for horn buttons with an engraved logo, closely reproducing the original. The garment includes a custom set of three original-matching labels, a special-material care label, and size labels on both the front and back. Every detail is accounted for.
Unisex style. Hand washing or gentle machine washing is recommended. If machine-washed, wash this item alone in a laundry bag on a gentle cycle. Do not tumble dry or wash in hot water. Do not soak for a long time or expose to direct sunlight. Lay flat to dry; do not hang it to dry. Following the care instructions correctly can extend the garment’s service life.
