To be honest, this collar is truly difficult to make. Each horizontal strip is hand-woven by skilled craftspeople, and the horizontal and vertical lines all have to align. The navy version’s corner detailing is also complicated, with edge stitching all around. It has a precisely placed triangular chest pocket.
For a trench-style jacket, cotton plus polyamide (commonly called nylon) is described as the best material combination: cotton offers a skin-friendly, comfortable feel, while polyamide is abrasion-resistant and hard-wearing, and does not lose its shape with extended wear. This fabric uses high-count, premium long-staple cotton together with nylon staple fibers.
Its performance is said to be a step up, giving it a refined sheen and wrinkle-resistant appearance. The surface has a light water-repellent treatment. As for the lining, although it is 100% cotton, yarn-dyed fabrics require a minimum order quantity. The supplier says they arranged 1000 meters of plaid lining fabric for this style, resulting in substantial waste and loss.
